A Love Letter

To understand love is to try and understand gravity. They are two names for the same force. Gravity holds us to the earth. Love pulls us together. When the earth shakes, gravity keeps our feet firmly on the ground. When the entire world goes crazy, love keeps us firmly in each other’s arms. Gravity holds in the atmosphere so that we can breath. Your love is the atmosphere that my soul breathes. Your kisses sustain me through struggle. Your hands quiet the tides of chaos and console the hurricanes. Your eyes are a window into myself. Without you I am not. You are my partner, my equal, my wife. My love for you grows stronger every day. You have given me two beautiful children, love, support, passion, motivation, satisfaction, companionship, frustration, and drive. You make me a better version of myself. You make me want to provide. You make me want to slay dragons, conquer nations, and catch you a delicious bass. You make me not afraid. I’m not afraid to grow old with you. I’m not afraid of being alone when the kids move on with their lives. I’m not afraid to fail, because I know that you will be there to help pick me up. I’m not afraid to be silly, or nerdy, or a bad mother f***er because you let me be me. The first fourteen years of marriage have been wonderful. Yes there were ups and downs. But through it all we never worried. We were confident in our commitment to each other. The next fourteen plus years will have ups and downs too. But know that I’m here, and I’ll hold you up when you need it. I’ll hold you close when you want it. And I’ll hold you down when you gotta have it. I love you Chenee. Now and always.
